So nice to hear my fellow artists speak about their work and nice to be heard.
Nothing haphazard in our approach and there is a seriousness and clear intentionality about what we do.
Thank you Hester Coucke and the Corvallis Arts Center!

I am going to use the next few weeks to see what I can get done. I have expanded out of my small studio into a larger space...upstairs!

rediscovering monoprints - connecting with my printmaking ...past
I took a monoprint workshop this past weekend at OCAC, working with a fantastic teacher Andrea Borsuk and a roomful of talented artists. I will admit my head was down into my own work trying to figure out a system combined with subject matter that would resonate personally.
Okay, my real goal was to give myself time to explore, but I think I have found a new and interesting thread for myself.
I plan to take this momentum further (I already purchased the supplies) and we will see how this develops and compliments my efforts in painting.
Here are the keepers from this weekend. (all about 11"x15" iphone on the dining room table pics :))

a couple new paintings
I am satisfied to say that this work is taking on a life of its' own - with a to-do and next steps agenda/questions that fuel the evolution.
I went to an art show today and read the blurb about the artist as having "...some sort of internal motivation to make art even though they were working alone outside of the art establishment."
Hmmmm, what's so odd about that?

Plugging along and continuing to discover....
Nothing like a few snow days to get a little extra painting done.
Painting makes me very happy and working with these images and new colors is a pleasure.
It takes me awhile to step back and try to synthesize what has emerged with this series. I wrote my statement and think these paintings are best described as "My Constructs" series.
Explanation shared upon request. :)
Happy New Year.
